Description
Through the 1960s and '70s, Al Roberts (1937-1997) and his band members
were popular entertainers in Milwaukee's polka music scene. Al played
an Italo-American chromatic accordion and the concertina. His chromatic
can be heard on his first recording, High-Flying
Polkas.
A chromatic accordion has roughly the same notes and range as a piano
accordion, but the right side uses buttons instead of keys.
Four reed combinations are offered on the right side: master,
bassoon, three clarinets, and one clarinet. Master basses, low basses,
and chords are sampled on the left side.
